The idea behind my theory of spirituality based solely on personal experience can be summed up briefly, I think. For example, here are drafts of a couple invitations that might be offered to the spiritually hungry in a mailing, print ad, or radio commercial.
You are a miracle!
You beat the odds. Your molecules are complex, but not most of the universe. You are alive and can move yourself about, but not most of the objects on Earth. You can think, and communicate, and create — and see far beyond your place and time. It’s truly miraculous!
What’s more, this miracle is a gift. You did nothing to earn your Human Spirit, wherever it came from. But you can recognize and cultivate your Human Spirit, or ignore and deny it. How you treat this gift will have a lot to do with how you feel about yourself.
We invite you to visit a community that celebrates the miraculous gift of the Human Spirit. This community is not based on theology, but on the recognition of the Human Spirit in each of us.
Skating on thin ice
Do you sometimes feel that your life is all surface and no depth? Maybe you sense a deeper spirituality within, but have found no place where it can be discussed and nurtured. Or maybe you have rejected the very idea of spirituality, for the same reasons you don’t feel drawn to God or religion.
We are a community that affirms the reality of personal spirituality. We don’t try to validate spiritual reality by invoking the authority of some God, or by studying complicated philosophy. We simply try to help you discover the spiritual reality that is proven by your everyday experience. You are the authority. You find our evidence convincing, or you don’t.
